    Specialty Camps

    Sundial Camps
    There is a lot of excitement for ages 3 to 5 at Sundial Camps. Activities are designed to enhance independence, skill development and creativity. A limited number of 2-year-olds are admitted to the program at the Chevy Chase Community Center. The camps run from 9 a.m. - noon on weekdays at each site. There is a $35 minimum weekly fee at Chevy Chase Community Center and at Friendship Recreation Center.

    Judo Camps
    The camps provide an introduction to the physical and psychological aspects of Judo. The programs stress the sports element of this martial arts form, with strong emphasis on improving motor skills, physical fitness and performance.

    Camp Footloose
    A unique outdoor camping experience for youth ages 13 and under, featuring arts and crafts, basketball, tennis, soccer and field trips.

    Taft Specialty Camp
    Instruction in ballet, modern dance, tap and taekwondo are taught to youth ages 13 and under. Students will also enjoy traditional camping experiences to include field trips, arts and crafts and sports activities.

    Taekwondo Camps
    This traditional martial arts program combines sharp, strong movements with graceful and free flowing movements. Participants receive instruction in basic kicks and footwork, punches, self-defense, as well as instruction in Olympic-style sparring.

    Aqua Day Camps
    Campers are exposed to an aquatic recreation environment with a curriculum including swimming, water safety, drug awareness, arts and crafts and other constructive activities. All topics are tailored to each child's age and ability. Participants do not have to be able to swim to register. Sessions will be held on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $130 for residents and $250 for nonresidents. Before and after care is available for an extra $50 per child, per session.
