Maryland Test Scores
By washingtonpost.com staff
These charts show the performance of suburban Maryland schools on the 1997 Maryland School Performance Assessment Program (MSPAP), a statewide standardized test given in the third, fifth and eighth grades. Each school was given a score, which is a composite of the percentage of students who met state standards in reading, writing, language usage, math, science and social studies. Higher scores mean better-prepared students. Howard County again clinched the top ranking on the assessment tests, while Prince George's County schools had the second-lowest scores in the state, next to Baltimore.
