Why should voters elect you?
"Our future depends on an uncompromised support for quality public education. Invest the budget surplus into classroom technology, learning centers; safe, affordable child care; teacher pensions and college scholarships. Reward achievement and civility, not mediocrity and selfishness. Build from personal responsibility upward. Implement greater entrepreneurial, home-based business freedom through less taxation and less burdensome regulation. Reduce traffic congestion by building the ICC [intercounty connector] and stagger work hours through tax-driven incentives. Accomplish campaign finance reform by capping soft money and restricting issue advocacy advertising within 30 days of any election. Leading by example will restore . . . confidence, pride and decorum to government."

As a member of the House I will continue my work for these groups. Additionally my 20 years of work in the Democratic Party and relationship with the speaker and governor will help me give the residents of my district a fair and adequate return on their tax dollar."

"In 1994 a voter told me something I'll never forget: 'Politicians talk too much,' she said. 'You've got my vote if you'll really listen to people.' I followed her advice and listened to people's ideas and concerns. Working with District 15 residents, I introduced and passed legislation ranging from increased educational funding, to tougher child-support collection laws, to tax incentives for businesses that work with students. These laws are in direct response to the concerns and ideas of District 15 residents. If reelected, I will continue to listen to and work with Montgomery County residents to effect positive change."

Why should voters elect you?
"When I first decided to run for public office, I sat down and wrote out what I hoped to accomplish in the Maryland legislature. My goals took the form of a pledge, rooted in an underlying core philosophy, which I offer again. I promise to do my utmost, 'to protect families from government's ever-expanding claims on their property and individual liberties; to protect them from a criminal justice system that plea bargains in lieu of building prisons, and a school system that thirsts for money, not excellence.' Although priorities may change, the mission will not."
What do you want voters to know about you?
"My involvement in the economy, my involvement in the community, but most importantly my role as a father, gives me a unique and necessary perspective."
