State Senate District 21
Maryland’s 47 state senators comprise the upper house of the General Assembly, which meets for 90 days each year in Annapolis. Along with the lower house, the House of Delegates, the senators consider more than 2,000 bills in a session, and they review and approve the state budget submitted by the governor. They serve four-year terms.

Why should voters elect you?
“I offer a fresh alternative. I am not a career politician. I believe in the concept of the citizen-legislator. The incumbent has been in office for over three decades. Clearly, he has more experience. But has it been a good experience? Maryland taxes are the second-highest per capita in the nation. Each year more money is spent on education, but there is little improvement. Traffic congestion grows worse. Violent crime has become an everyday occurence. It’s time for a change. I will be responsive to the community. I will work to make a positive change.”
What do you want voters to know about you?
“I wish to serve my community. I will listen to the people. I will voice their concerns. I will be their representative.”
Web site: None.

Why should voters elect you?
"Voters should elect me because of my experience and ability in getting things done. I am currently the vice chair of the Finance Committee. All health care legislation comes through that committee. During this last term, we developed and passed bills providing for better health care for Maryland citizens. Through the years, I have been a strong supporter of public education. An advocate for the University of Maryland-College Park, I helped designate that campus as the 'flagship' of the system. Public education, kindergarten through 12th grade, is also my high priority. Currently I am chairman of the Chesapeake Bay Trust."
What do you want voters to know about you?
"Retired optometrist-was named optometrist of the year by my state and national association. Leader in legislation dealing with consumer protection, highway safety, transportation issues, etc."
