State Senate District 30
Maryland’s 47 state senators comprise the upper house of the General Assembly, which meets for 90 days each year in Annapolis. Along with the lower house, the House of Delegates, the senators consider more than 2,000 bills in a session, and they review and approve the state budget submitted by the governor. They serve four-year terms.

"During my 16 years as a legislator, my highest priority has been to serve the needs of every resident of District 30. I have earned the reputation as a fiscal conservative and a strong advocate for business. As a Marine officer, I served in Vietnam, where I received two Purple Hearts. My experience in the Marine Corps taught me to effectively assign priorities and focus my efforts. My strong code of conduct earned during my military career has greatly assisted me while serving as a member of the Ethics Committee. I am committed to accomplishing more."

What do you want voters to know about you?
"I'm a citizen legislator, retired Marine colonel and an EMS helicopter pilot for Washington Hospital Center, serving my community for 16 years."

"Dedication to the latest learning and empowerment systems has given me a broad range of experience. My 'Community of Learners' program is an education reform plan which is already successful in other states. Education is the key to our children's future and is a major player in Maryland's economic growth. Good schools attract good businesses for a healthier economy. I stand for lower taxes, crime control and the critical need for pro-environment initiatives. My career path of leadership and demonstrated situational management skills will be brought to Senate floor, fostering responsive lawmaking and a better life for our citizens."

"Chairman and founder of Wings Over America, a national organization within the Air Line Pilots Association, created to foster 'hands-on' pilot volunteerism in their communities."
