How do I register my child for school?

Bring a birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency, such as a lease. High school transfer students should bring a transcript from their previous school.

If you don’t know what school your child should attend, call the superintendent’s office at 241-7600 and press 3 at the main menu.

When are vacations?

The 1997-'98 school calendar is as follows:

Sept. 2: First day of school.

Oct. 13: Columbus Day holiday.

Nov. 10-11: Schools closed for professional activities for teachers.

Nov. 26: Schools closed early.

Nov. 27-28: Thanksgiving holiday.

Dec. 23: Schools closed early.

Dec. 24-Jan. 4: Winter break.

Jan. 19: Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Jan. 29-30: Schools closed for professional activities for teachers.

Feb. 16: Presidents' Day holiday or snow make-up day.

April 2-3: Schools closed for professional activities for teachers.

April 6-10: Spring break.

May 22: Holiday (or snow makeup day).

May 25: Memorial Day holiday.

June 16: Last day of school.
