How do I register my child for school?

Take your child to the school he or she will attend. To find out which is your local elementary school, call the Fairfax County Boundaries Office at 246-2111.

You must accompany your child and bring the following: proof of residency in Fairfax County; the child's birth certificate and, for non-U.S. citizens, substantiating documentation; the child's Social Security number; proof of immunization; and school records or transcripts from previous school. In addition, a certificate of a recent physical exam is required for students entering grades K-6 and for all foreign students. A tuberculin test is required for some non-citizens and citizens who have resided recently in a foreign country.
