Riding Metro: Despite positive opinions of Metro, an overwhelming majority of area residents don't use the system to commute to work for a variety of reasons.

The latest Washington Post poll is based on telephone interviews with 1,003 randomly selected adults in DC, the Maryland suburbs, and Northern Virginia and was conducted Jan. 27-31. The margin of sampling error for results based on commuters is plus or minus 4 percentage points. Sampling error is only one of many potential sources of error in this or any other public opinion poll. Interviewing was conducted by TNS of Horsham, Pa.
