The latest Washington Post poll is based on telephone interviews with 1,003 randomly selected adults in the District, the Maryland suburbs and Northern Virginia and was conducted Jan. 27-31. Comparative national results are from a Washington Post-ABC News-Time poll conducted by telephone Jan. 26-31 among 1,204 randomly selected adults nationwide. The margin of sampling error for overall results is plus or minus 3 percentage points; plus or minus 4 percentage points for commuters; and somewhat larger for smaller subsamples. Sampling error is only one of many potential sources of error in these or any other public opinion polls. Interviewing was conducted by TNS of Horsham, Pa.
