Local Votes on the Schiavo Bill

The legislation: The bill gave the parents of Terri Schiavo the right to file a lawsuit in U.S. District Court alleging that Schiavo's rights related to life-sustaining medical treatment had been violated under the Constitution or federal law. The bill passed the House and Senate and was signed into law by President Bush.
