DATABASE: AIDS in the suburbs

How are suburban residents around the Washington, D.C., area affected by AIDS? Search the database to find the number of residents with HIV/AIDS, how the disease was contracted, how many are being treated, and more information.

  • MSM: Men who have sex with men. Includes males with reported sexual contact with another male, and males with no definitive risk and with history of a rectal STD or proctitis.
  • IDU: Injection drug use. Includes peeople who took nonprescribed drugs by injection, intravenously, intramuscularly or subcutaneously.
  • "Unmet care" means the infected person is not receiving treatment.
  • "Prevalance rate" is the number of infected people per 100,000 residents.
