We have increased public school funding by 75 percent and provided health coverage for 100,000 children. Now, together, we can do so much more. We can relieve traffic congestion by improving mass transit and building the ICC. We can continue to make Maryland's schools first-rate, and we will work aggressively to protect the Chesapeake Bay. Why should voters elect you? "As a lifelong resident of Maryland, I understand what the people of our great state want from their next governor: quality leadership. I will bring quality leadership back to Annapolis to fill the void created by the Glendening-Townsend administration. Here are three of my ideas to help our state: (1)Improve our education system with adequate funding and targeted spending; (2) Bring 'Project Exile' to Maryland, which will create mandatory prison sentences for criminals convicted of gun-related felonies; (3) Build the intercounty connector promptly and responsibly to bring traffic relief to Montgomery and Prince George's counties."

"This year, for the first time in decades, Maryland voters have a fresh choice on the ballot for governor: the Libertarian candidate. That's me, Spear Lancaster. The difference between the old-party candidates and me is that I come with a set of principles rooted in liberty, just like our Founding Fathers. Furthermore, having headed up a successful business enterprise, in which I made payroll, gave people jobs and contributed to the economy, I'm the only candidate with 'chief executive' on his resume. If the job description is 'chief executive,' I've got the experience."
What would you like the voters to know about you?
"I'm not a professional politician, and that fact alone brings a perspective to my candidacy that my opponents do not have."
