Something voters should know about you: "Whether elected or not, I'll continue working for statehood, better schools, world-class public hospital, etc., and against tax base-eroding projects like baseball stadiums." Why should voters elect you? "The city has lost its way. Our elected officials gush over expensive taxpayer-funded edifices (new convention center, baseball stadium) and circuses (Olympics, Grand Prix, proposed music museum). Amid this glitz, citizens' vital services suffer—school budget, low-income housing slashed; social services crippled. We must rearrange priorities. Economic development is not a baseball stadium. It's good schools, abundant housing, a world-class public hospital on Reservation 13, other critical services. To fund this, we need to increase our tax base, including but not limited to aggressively seeking voluntary payments from untaxed private universities, Fannie Mae, World Bank, other freeloaders." Why should voters elect you? "Many positives have occurred during my stewardship as chairman. The council is more respected by the citizens than ever. The council is functioning as an equal branch of government, providing strong oversight with professionalism. The renovation and return of the District government to the Wilson District Building happened under my leadership. Community revitalization to improve quality of life for our citizens and fiscal stability have become major city concerns encouraged by my leadership. A vote for Linda Cropp will enable continued commitment, hard work and dedication for a forward-moving Washington while providing better services to our citizens." Web site: None given.
