Council Ward 5

Gail Dixon (SG)

Age: 55

Something voters should know about you: "As a mother and the grandmother of Mackenzie, I know that basic needs come first. I know the value of family, friends, community. I sing."

Why should voters elect you? "My vote on council will be for a fully elected school board, fully funded public schools, fully funded public health and public safety needs and a progressive tax structure. I will consult with taxpayers about spending their money, especially for corporate welfare and failed Olympics bids. I would advocate environmental justice, and I would insist that the fire chief and other high officials be competent and qualified. I would demand that the planning office plan, rather than do public relations for the mayor. My election would help end the one-party system which cripples this city."
