Gordon L. Riggle

Candidate for City Council

Age: 67

Residence: Fairfax City, Fairfax Acres.

Education: BS, agriculture, ornamental horticulture, Ohio State University.

Occupation: Owner, Gordon L. Riggle, Landscape Architect and Site Planner.

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction? "Fight the real estate tax invasion: The present City Council has not done enough to reduce the real estate tax burden on city homeowners. Assessments have climbed 100 percent in five years. The Fairfax City real estate tax rate has declined only 20 percent during that five-year period. Stop the runaway city budget: The city budgets approved by the incumbent City Council have overspent voter-authorized bond issues and initiatives. City properties have been put up as collateral for bank loans covering the excess expenses. Fairfax City pays rent to use its own City Hall."

Why should voters elect you? " 'Taxpayers revolt' is a harsh term, but taxpayers in Fairfax City have had enough. I support the lowest tax rate while maintaining full city services."
