Michael F. Anton

Candidate for Clifton Town Council

Age: 36

Residence: Clifton.

Education: BA, political science, University of Colorado, Boulder; MA, information systems management, George Washington University.

Occupation: Marketing and communications director, Republican State Leadership Committee.

Elected offices/civic activities: Member, Fairfax County Community Emergency Response Team; chairman, Frog Hill Architectural, Design and Review Committee; Eagle Scout.

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction? "I believe we must ensure the safety of pedestrians on our sidewalks. We must improve communications on a day-to-day basis between the residents and the council, as well as create a communications plan in case of emergency. I'm proud to call Clifton home. But I believe we can improve the beautification of our town, like the entrance motorists pass every day as they enter and leave town. Like any business, we must ensure that the town of Clifton has an adequate revenue source and/or is spending resources wisely."

Why should voters elect you? "I have the energy and drive to restore the sense of community in Clifton and open channels for two-way communication between residents and the council."
