What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction? "Public confidence in the school board and central administration must be restored. With a projected continuation of declining enrollments, it is essential to clearly demonstrate, particularly to those without students in the public schools, that the schools are run efficiently and tax dollars are used to implement programs with track records of improving student achievement. A larger percentage of resources must go into the classrooms so that all schools can meet state and federal goals, and Alexandria can continue to attract and retain top-flight teachers."
Why should voters elect you? "I bring 25 years of proven leadership and management skills in public service, coupled with 12 years of civic and public school involvement in Alexandria."
