Victoria Kwasiborski

Candidate for School Board

Age: 40

Residence: Falls Church.

Education: BS, biological anthropology, University of Michigan; graduate student, science and technology policy, Virginia Tech.

Occupation: Project manager, American Physical Society.

Elected offices/civic activities: Former member, Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee, Falls Church public schools; program director, Cub Scout Pack 657, Falls Church; troop leader, Girl Scouts.

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction? "Accepting 'excellent' as the status quo for our school system can serve to undermine our responsibility to maintain that standard. Our schools did not achieve excellence with the wave of a hand, but rather resulted from both parental investment and parental involvement. To be sure, we have investment — families are moving into Falls Church; the challenge now facing our School Board is to find ways to raise the involvement, as well."

Why should voters elect you? "I am a working mother who recognizes that great schools require hard work. I seek to renew community involvement in our schools."
