Elected offices/civic activities:

Member, Montgomery County Council, 2002-present;
past member, Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee; chairman, Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee; member, Temple Shalom, Chevy Chase; member, NAACP.

Why should voters elect you?

"Because of my good work on the council since 2002 on issues such as health care, clean energy, transportation, school construction, homelessness and mental health."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Our biggest problems arise from our success as a highly desirable place to live. Because our economy is thriving, many people drive to work, generating unacceptable traffic congestion. Our property values are soaring, and affordable housing is scarce. Because of our schools' good reputation, many families want to attend them, causing overcrowding. The County Council is listening to residents, investing in transportation infrastructure and school construction, managing our growth and protecting our Agricultural Reserve. We have not solved all our problems, but we are making an honest effort to respond to the public's concerns."
