Why should voters elect you?

"I was lead sponsor of the county's smoke-free restaurant law, living-wage law and property tax relief. I refuse campaign funds from PACs and development interests."

What do you think is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

"Excessive residential growth. Montgomery County is adding a population the size of Rockville or Gaithersburg every four years (14,000 people or 1.5 percent annually). This growth isn't sustainable, worsens traffic, overloads schools and reduces quality of life. Developers, the primary funders of council campaigns, are the beneficiaries; visit www.neighborspac.org to see developer contributions and votes. The next council must slow down growth to catch up on road and transit improvements. This council's fast-growth majority worsened traffic by eliminating a major traffic test for new development, removing all development moratoria and adopting a policy of adding jobs faster than housing."
