Metro Crime

Roll over the stations in the map below to see serious crimes reported by Metro transit police and other police agencies from Jan. 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005. "Serious crimes" include rapes, aggravated assaults, robberies, attempted robberies, pick-pockets and purse snatches. During that period, four rapes and no homicides were reported. Data for stolen vehicles and attempted thefts is listed only for stations with parking.

*These stations opened in late 2004.

ABOUT THE DATA: The Post asked Metro transit police and nine local and regional police agencies for statistics about crimes at Metro stations. D.C. police provided statistics for crimes occurring within a 100-foot radius of station entrances and exits. The Post reviewed the statistics and data from police reports and excluded crimes that were not Metro-related.
