Burke Lake is an 888-acre park that includes a 218-acre lake. There is fishing, boating (no gasoline-powered watercraft permitted), camping, a miniature train, carousel, outdoor volleyball courts, an 18-hole, par-3 golf course, an ice cream parlor, a snack bar and picnic areas with grills and playgrounds. No swimming. Nominal fees for some activities.

The Great Falls Grange Hall, built in 1929, was a center for town assemblies, fundraisers and carnivals. Today, the hall is available for meetings, weddings and other events. The Old Schoolhouse adjacent to the hall was built in the 1890s and is also rented out. The surrounding eight-acre park has a picnic shelter, playground, and softball and soccer fields.

Operated by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority and George Mason University, the park offers a variety of outdoor and environmental programs. The park has access to the Bull Run-Occoquan Trail, an outdoor challenge course, four cabins with 96 beds, a dining lodge and a central bathhouse.

Hidden Oaks lies within the 52-acre Annandale Community Park. The woods surrounding the center feature an easy loop trail. Additional trails lead through the woods to two streams. A naturalist is available during operating hours to answer questions.The park, situated along Pohick Stream Valley, has plentiful wildlife and extensive woodlands. Huntley Meadows has 1,425 acres of natural habitats,
including wetlands, meadows and mature forest. It is populated by fox, deer, beaver, otter and more than 200 species of birds. A boardwalk wends through wetlands, leading to an observation tower.

This 476-acre park includes an 18-acre lake and the Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole, an outdoor swimming pool with slides, flumes, sprays, showers and interactive play features encircled by a "lazy river" for tubing. The park also offers pedal-boat rentals, fishing, a carousel, campgrounds, trails, a playground and picnic areas. Swimming in the lake is prohibited.

The 1,814-acre park is on a peninsula that is home to an active heron rookery. It also attracts several other species of birds, including whistling swans, ducks and bald eagles. The park has a picnic area, a playground, a visitors center with exhibitions, hiking trails, fishing and car-top boat launch facilities. No swimming.
