The department operates six residential convenience centers at no charge to county residents. The centers handle most residential solid waste and have recycling containers for plastic, aluminum, steel, newspapers, magazines, mixed paper, old clothing and textiles, batteries, used oil, antifreeze, cardboard and glass. The county does not provide trash collection. Information on the location of the centers and solid waste disposal is available on the department’s Web site. The department also operates the St. Andrews Landfill, which charges a flat residential fee of $10 and an excessive load fee of $65 for deposits weighing more than a ton.
