Virginia's Cooling Assistance Program 703-838-0901 or 703-838-0971 Through Aug. 15 eligible, low-income households with a person age 60 or over, a child under 6-years-old or a permanently disabled person who has no air conditioning can obtain free fans or window air conditioners.

Recreation Centers and Libraries 703-838-4800 Recreation centers and libraries are open until 9 p.m. Monday through Friday
Landmark Mall 703-354-8405 Landmark Mall is open Monday through Saturday until 9:30 p.m. and until 6 p.m. on Sunday
Alexandria Senior Centers Charles Houston Senior Center: 703-838-4832 and Saint Martin de Porres Senior Center: 703-751-2766 The two senior centers open to anyone over 60 years of age for daytime activities.
City Swimming Pools 703-838-4343 The swimming pools, located throughout Alexandria, provide welcome and effective relief from the effects of excessive heat.
