The D.C. Court of Appeals is the equivalent of a state supreme court. As the highest court for the District of Columbia, it is authorized to review all final orders, judgments and specified interlocutory orders of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The court also has jurisdiction to review decisions of administrative agencies, boards and commissions of D.C. government and to answer questions of law certified by federal and state appellate courts.

The site has information on services available at Superior Court, such as the Domestic Violence Intake Center, assistance for those not represented by lawyers, and daily information on inclement weather. There is an additional Domestic Violence Intake Center at Greater Southeast Hospital.

The bureau issues licenses and performs civil marriages. Applicants must present results of blood tests for syphilis 10 days before the scheduled ceremony. The total cost is $45. Hours: 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Mondays-Fridays. Courthouse ceremonies may be scheduled when the judge is available.
