The $2.7 million Boys & Girls Club is located in Manassas' s Dean Park. The facility includes three gyms (one each of hardwood, carpet and rubber ), a computer lab, lounges with a stereo, widescreen televisions, air hockey and other games, arts and crafts rooms, a kiln, a library and a kitchen. The club is for youths ages 6 to 18; membership costs $20 a year.

Swimming lessons, nutritional counseling, a nursery and yoga are available. A playground, a trail, a picnic pavilion and three soccer fields are also available.

Costello Park's 25 acres offer nine baseball, softball and T-ball fields, two tennis courts, a basketball court and outdoor pool, a playground and a recreation center. There is also a covered pavilion and several picnic areas with grills. The park is open year-round from 7:30 a.m. to dusk.

Dale City Recreation Center has an Olympic-size swimming pool, cardiovascular and strength training equipment, a gymnasium, a licensed nursery, community rooms, picnic pavilions, walking trails, batting cages and three Little League fields. Manassas' s Georgetown South neighborhood opened its first community center last year. The one-story building houses a child development facility with an Early Head Start program, a police substation, a small library, a community room and offices. Outdoors, it has a playground and a large patio. The center also is home to the Georgetown South Community Council, the area's homeowners association. After-school gang prevention is one of several programs offered. The community room is open only to residents of Georgetown South.

Old Dominion Speedway has weekly NASCAR racing and the East Coast's longest-running drag strip. It also offers scale racing for adults and children in Sprint Karts and mini-Winston Cup cars, and hosts other events, including the Monster Truck Show, May 14-15; HyperFest/Drifting Show, June 5; and the ODS Big One National Championship, Oct. 21-22. For stock racing, the Try It Racing school puts on one-day driving and riding programs. The speedway seats 6,000 people.

Potomac Nationals

The Potomac Nationals are a Class A minor league baseball team and a Carolina League affiliate of the major league Washington Nationals. Based at Woodbridge's Prince William County Stadium Complex (off the Prince William Parkway), the team plays 70 home games through September. The complex, maintained by the Prince William County Park Authority, includes a baseball field, three softball fields, a picnic area and an eight-lane BMX track.
