 Praying for The Pope Friday, Apr. 1, 2005 Supporters of Pope John Paul II gathered at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Northwest Washington for a noon mass on Friday. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, the archbishop of Washington, lead the prayers for the ailing 84-year-old pontiff. After the service, churchgoers reflected on their impressions of the pope.
