IMF Protest Organizers Claim Success
Sunday, April 16, 2000
Protesters block the intersection at 17th Street and New York Avenue, N.W. Ralph Nader, a leading consumer advocate, tells demonstrators at the Ellipse that the anti-trade movement will succeed just like the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore said that the protesters represent a large and diverse cross section of people. Han Shan, an organizer for the Mobilization of Global Justice, claims the protest a success. Pop music group The Indigo Girls performs at the Ellipse.
