Washington Convention Center Demolition
Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004; 11:27 AM

D.C. Mayor Anthony A. Williams and a group of onlookers gathered at the new Washington Convention Center to watch the scheduled demolition of the city's old convention center across the street. The implosion in downtown D.C. happened just after 7:30 a.m. It took about 20 seconds for the 22-year-old structure to crumble to the ground after a series of explosions ripped through the 800,000-square-foot building.

Interviews with:

Sam Boardman, 9, of Washington, D.C.

Jordan Wilmot, 7, of Silver Spring
