World Trade Center Columns of Light Memorial Monday, March 11, 2002 On the six-month anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, New Yorkers marked the event with two temporary memorials. As dusk fell, two columns of light, dubbed the "Tribute in Light," pierced the Manhattan skyline. Earlier in the day, "The Sphere," a damaged sculpture from the middle of the World Trade Center, was resurrected in Battery Park.
