U.S. Soldiers in Uzbekistan Speak With Reporters Friday, November 2, 2001
Six soldiers from the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division discuss their living conditions from an undisclosed location in Uzbekistan. Four enlisted soldiers, including one woman, and two non-commissioned officers were permitted to take questions from Pentagon reporters by telephone Friday. The 10th Mountain Division trains at Fort Drum, NY, and specializes in cold weather operations in mountainous terrain. The soldiers were permitted to give only their ranks and first names during the interview.
