Taiwanese citizens discuss their views on relations with mainland China as Taiwan prepares for a presidential election on March 20, 2004.
Voters will also consider a referendum which will ask whether Taiwan should boost its defenses against Chinese missiles aimed at the island. Beijing sought to prevent the referendum, saying it is a constitutional precedent for a path toward independence from the mainland.
