A Black Tie (and Boots) Affair
Friday, January 19, 2001

Tonight’s Texas Black Tie and Boots Ball at the Wardman Park Marriott in Northwest, Washington is expected to draw more than 9,000 people ahead of Saturday’s presidential inauguration of George W. Bush.

Organized by the Texas State Society, the ball is the biggest party in town, even if it is not one of the official inauguration parties. Along with thousands of pounds of smoked ham and brisket, party-goers will see country music stars and an exhibit of live steers, horses and other animals from the state of Texas.

Interviews at the Wardman Park Marriott in Washington, D.C.:
Chris Otway, director of catering
Horst Lummert, executive chef
Ed Rudzinsky, general manager
