Commentary: Religion's Sway on Southern Politics

The Democratic candidates for president must negotiate a more individual-oriented Christianity in the Southern states, says Washington Post Culture Critic Philip Kennicott. Perhaps they should be grateful that South Carolina didn't become the all-out primary battle everyone had predicted, because Democrats promised to talk God, and in the South, talking God isn't simple.
