Monday, August 14, 2000
Los Angeles police responded quickly Monday night to a small band of protesters who set fires and heaved objects at officers near the site of the Democratic National Convention. Firing rubber bullets, beanbags and pepper spray, police on horseback and on foot dispersed the crowd gathered in the secure protest area for the Rage Against the Machine concert. Ten people were arrested during the Monday night protest, bringing the total arrested in DNC-related incidents to 38, according LAPD chief spokesman David Kalish.
