On and Off the Stump: The Candidates in Iowa

Monday, January 24, 2000

Washingtonpost.com senior producer Lisa Todorovich and staff photographer Craig Cola followed the candidates during their last week on the campaign trail before today's precinct caucuses in Iowa. Here are some of the moment they captured in RealVideo.

Gary Bauer (R)
The conservative activist talks about the importance of electing a Republican president and Pat Robertson's legacy.

Bill Bradley (D)
The former New Jersey senator talks with reporters about his campaign strategy.

George W. Bush (R)
The GOP front-runner answers a question about negative advertising, then displays a candidate's charm off-stage with a one-on-one conversation with his questioner.

Al Gore (D)
The vice president talks with supporters about Medicare.

The weekend before the caucuses, Gore rallied his supporters to attend Monday's precinct meetings and discussed his goals for the White House. Gore stumped Saturday with Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.), who lost the 1980 Democratic presidential caucuses in Iowa.
