The New Palestinian Leader
Mahmoud Abbas to Succeed Arafat, Work for a Palestinian State
Palestinians went to the polls Sunday to choose a successor to the late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat. They elected Arafat's long-time party deputy, Mahmoud Abbas.
