 British Troops Inch Closer to Basra Friday, April 4, 2003; 9:26 AM British forces advanced closer to Iraq's second largest city after taking a Basra Technical College yesterday. The college housed Saddam Hussein's Fedayeen troops, according to British soldiers on the scene. Today, fighting moved into a shantytown as the sound of gun battles echoed in the outskirts of Basra.
