In the headlines: LBJ sends two chief advisers, Gen. Maxwell D. Taylor and Clark M. Clifford, chairman of the Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, on a trip to Saigon and other nations contributing forces the war – South Korea, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand and New Zealand – to "exchange views on Vietnam strategy and troop deployment." Five national campus groups draft a student bill of rights. Marion Barry, former Washington director of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, joins the United Planning Organization as a $50-a-day consultant.
Not in the newspaper: Richard Sutter, 21, is killed at Khe Sanh.
