The second floor of the First Union Center was schmooze central during the convention as delegates and other party members gathered outside the suites, sipping cocktails and talking politics. Hanging over the entrance to the lobby at the First Union Center was a mammoth photo of Texas Gov. George W. Bush. As the crowds slowly filtered into the hall Thursday evening, the second floor of the arena -- home of the high-powered suites -- came to life as food servers brought plates of shrimp and salads into the suites.
