| On Aug. 7, 1998, in a coordinated effort, car bombs exploded within minutes of each other near the U.S. embassies in Kenya (pictured) and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The human damage: 224 killed, including 12 Americans, and 5,000 people injured. Five people believed associated with Saudi exile Osama bin Laden were indicted for the blast.
