"I've had to feed her for six years now, going on seven. Every day, three or four times a day. She don't seem to mind the company, nothing bothers her that you can tell. At times, she won't pay any attention to me. Some days I get so tired myself I don't feel like standing and feeding her, but even so, I don't mind feeding her. ... And I know I could never have gone through what Mommy suffered, with Daddy beating and abusing Mommy from the time I was a little bitty thing until after I was married and gone. Not me.
