In Tennessee, a Pursuit of Environmental Justice
In the 1960s and 1970s, toxic waste dumped at a landfill in Dickson County, Tenn., contaminated nearby well water. Sheila Holt-Orsted, one of the county's few black residents, believes her family was not properly informed of the drinking water's dangers and that the toxins led to family illnesses, including her own cancer.
