Road to War

Video: Craig Cola   Reporter: Christina Pino-Marina
Members of North Dakota’s 957th National Guard unit are leaving families, careers and college behind while making the transition to full-time military service. The unit, which specializes in combat bridge engineering, was placed on alert in mid-January in anticipation of a U.S. war with Iraq. On this journey, 177 soldiers travel in an 85-vehicle convoy 1,000 miles from Bismarck, N.D., to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
