D.C. General Hospital in Washington
is known worldwide for its very high
number of trauma cases – the
majority of patients are gunshot and
stabbing victims. Medical students
and doctors from all over the United
States and the world do training stints
here, because they likely will see
more trauma cases in a single
weekend than they would in an entire
year in their own hospitals.

The core staff at the hospital works
brutal hours for little pay, but they
work with the knowledge that the
community would be desperate
without them. They believe in the
hospital's slogan: "D.C. General:
Where Miracles Happen Everyday."
