| By 1970 the Palestinian presence in Jordan had grown to a point where heavily armed guerillas openly patrolled the streets of Amman. The Jordanian government, fearing it was losing control of the country, attacked Palestinian refugee camps, killing many and expelling the rest into Lebanon. | ||
