2004 Republican Convention: Highlights

New York: August 30 - September 2

Although the Republicans will cast votes for a nominee and approve a party platform during the convention, the balloting will be ceremonial. The event will focus on speeches defining the record of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

"Courage of a Nation"

Former New York City mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani will speak about acts of bravery on Sept. 11, 2001.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will speak about the courage of men and women in the military and the leadership of Bush in the war on terrorism.

"Compassion of the American People"

Laura Bush will give personal insights into her husbandís first term.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will tell his story of "living the American dream."

"Land of Opportunity"

Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga.) will speak about Bushís domestic agenda and its benefits to American workers.

Cheney will speak about the presidentís vision for international relations and domestic security.

"Build a Safer World, and a More Hopeful America"

Bush will lay out his vision for a second term.
