Roll Call of Senate Vote On Witnesses
Wednesday, January 27, 1999 The 56-44 roll call by which the Senate voted to reject a motion to allow House prosecutors to call witnesses in the impeachment trial of President Clinton. Prosecutors on Tuesday said they wanted to call Monica S. Lewinsky, Vernon Jordan and White House aide Sidney Blumenthal, and requested that Clinton be available to be deposed. On this vote, a "yes" vote was a vote to allow prosecutors to depose the witnesses, and a "no" vote was a vote to prevent witnesses from giving testimony. Voting "yes" were 55 Republicans and 1 Democrat – Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.). Voting "no" were 44 Democrats.
