Northern Virginia's vote in the 2013 governor's race
Just nine cities and counties in Northern Virginia gave Democrat Terry McAuliffe a 135,000-vote lead over Republican Ken Cuccinelli II in Tuesday's election. That made up for McAuliffe’s losses across much of the rest of the state and powered his win. Some 93,000 more people voted than in the last race for governor in 2009. This map shows how voters in 495 precincts built McAuliffe’s margin here. Read related article.
