    Paul Lawrie, who considered quitting the European PGA Tour as recently as 1995, became the most famous Scottish golfer since Tommy Armour after he won the British Open in a playoff Sunday.

    Scot Brings Open Title Home
    Scotland's Paul Lawrie defeated Jean Van De Velde and Justin Leonard in a four-hole playoff Sunday to win the 128th British Open. Lawrie was 10 shots back when the day began making his victory the greatest comeback in major championship history.
